The Most Honourable Mrs. Juliet Holness, MP
Speaker of the House of Representatives
The Most Honourable Mrs Juliet Holness was elected to serve as Speaker in September 2023, having previously served as Deputy Speaker of the House from 2020-2023. Mrs. Holness is a second-term Member of Parliament for the constituency of St. Andrew East Rural, following consecutive successes in the 2016 and 2020 General Elections. Since entering the political arena in 2016, community development, gender equality, and the empowerment of marginalized youth have been at the forefront of her advocacy even as she works tirelessly to improve efficiency in the operations of Government as well as improved quality of life for all Jamaicans.
The Honourable Speaker was born in Jamaica’s old capital, Spanish Town, St. Catherine, within a close-knit family that instilled in her the values of hard work and education. These principles guided her to academic excellence at St. Catherine High School and The Wolmer's Trust High School for Girls, where she completed her 6th form education.
Mrs. Holness holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Economics as well as a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of West Indies, Mona, and is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. In addition to a distinguished career as a chartered accountant, having held senior positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers and KPMG, she has carved a niche for herself as a respected and astute real estate developer.
She is married to the Most Honourable Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica, with whom she shares two sons – Adam and Matthew. She loves caring for her orchids, growing the vegetables her family eats, as well as spending time relaxing with her family and close circle of friends.
